Nora Dybdal RYT, LMT, CCYT

As a young child, I have joyful memories of playing and practicing yoga with my mother, who was (and is still) a wonderful yoga teacher. She was introduced to yoga back in the 1940’s, before yoga was even known to most of western culture. She studied the teachings of many

gurus, including Paramahansa Yogananda and Swami Rama, and she passed that knowledge, love, and sense of wonder and appreciation for the practice of yoga, on to me. A gift for which I am truly grateful. In my 20’s I completed my first official yoga teacher training in the Sivananda tradition with Sarabess Forster at Sunflower Yoga. Later I studied and also became certified in Kripalu style of yoga at The Kripalu Center in Lenox, MA. As I taught and developed in my career, the joyful childhood memories of playful yoga with my mother and my own journey into motherhood, inspired me to add specialization in teaching yoga to children. Under the instruction of Tara Rachel Jones of Flower Yoga, I received my 95 hour children's yoga teacher training certificate. I very much enjoy the creativity and energy of teaching yoga to children, including to my own two children, who now share the joy of yoga practice with me. As a licensed massage therapist, (900hr training certification from The Muscular Therapy Institute/Cortiva Boston) I have a solid foundation in functional anatomy, which blends into my yoga work. Taken together, my background in anthropology, natural sciences, voice training/singing, massage and yoga allows me to offer classes that that are rich with imagery, awareness of the natural world, attention on the senses, encouraging students to cultivate mindful awareness, self-compassion, confidence, and a sense of community and camaraderie.
